Proportional Fertigation
- Entering basic data
Select Stage drop-box - select the stage for which you would like to obtain the fertigation program.
Minimum Temperature - Enter the minimum temperature of the water used for preparing the stock solution. The default value is 5°C (41°F). The temperature you set determines the solubility of the fertilizers, according to the information in the database.
Water Amount per Stage – This figure updates according to the water amounts you entered in the Water Test screen. If you did not enter data in the Water Test Screen, you can enter it here.
Fertigation Interval – enter the interval of the fertigation events within the stage.
Irrigation Interval - enter the interval of irrigation events within the stage.
For example, for if you irrigate every day, but apply fertilizers once in every two days, then Fertigation Interval = 2 and Irrigation Interval = 1.
Distributing Fertilizers into Stock Tanks
Click the Auto Fill Tanks button. Smart! will automatically distribute the fertilizers into the minimal number of tanks according to their compatibility.
After distributing the fertilizers into the fertilizer stock tanks, you will now adjust theInjection Ratios and Tank Volumes to match your fertigation system specifications.
EC(ds/m) – The estimated EC of the irrigation water, including the fertilizers.
Water – The water quantity in the tank. If you use only solid fertilizers, the water quantity will be equal to the Tank Volume.
Liquid Fertilizers – Amount of liquid fertilizers in the tank.
Tank Volume – The sum of Water and Total Liquid Fertilizers is the Total Liquids.
The default value for Tank Volume is set to 1,000 liters (264 gallons). You may change
this value to the actual volume of the tank you are using. Fertilizer amounts in the tanks
will be adjusted accordingly.
Injection Ratio – SMART! returns a default value for the required Injection Ratio To the solubility of the fertilizers and the interactions between them. This default value is theminimal Injection Ratio recommended.
Note: It is advised to adjust the default Injection Ratio to fit the capacity of your fertigation system. The amounts of fertilizers in the tank will be automatically adjusted accordingly.
In case that changing the Injection Ratio (normally to a lower Injection Ratio than the recommended one) might cause a solubility problem or any other issue, an alert message will be displayed, explaining the problem that might arise.
The higher Injection Ratio you use, the less concentrated the solution in the tank, and vice-versa. Therefore, to prevent precipitation in the tanks, it is recommended that you set the Injection Ratio to a higher value than the minimal Injection Ratio calculated.
