Source Water Screen

Crop Data --> Soil and/or tissue analysis --> Source Water --> Fertilizers --> Fertigation / nutrient solution

For non-irrigated crops or if you do not have a water analysis, skip this screen and continue to Fertilizers.

1. Enter Source Water Analysis

For irrigated crops it is recommended to enter the source (raw) water analysis.

If you previously saved water analysis results, you can load them, by selecting Load Source Water.

  1. In the Source Water row, enter the test results for each nutrient. IMPORTANT: before entering a value, make sure that the unit at the Select Units (A), corresponds to the unit indicated by your laboratory.
  2. Before entering a value, for each nutrient, select its ionic form, as indicated by your laboratory. Use the arrow next to the nutrient symbol, to open a drop-box (B) with available nutrient forms .

  3. Enter Source Water pH (C).

  4. Enter Source Water EC, OR click the Calculate button to calculate it according to the test results you entered (D).

  5. If Target Values are in kg/ha or lbs/acre, you should also enter the Irrigation Rate (E).

Total Water - The total irrigation amount per hectare, that is applied to the crop during the period for which the target values are determined. This field will appear when Target Values are in kg/ha or lbs/acre.

Example:

Water may contain nutrients that are available to the crop, and part of its nutrition. By entering the Irrigation Ratio we can determine the amount of each nutrient contributed by the water.

Given the following information:

Target value of Calcium for a certain crop is 120 kg/ha per 100 days (i.e. Application Interval = 100 days).

Source water contains 25 ppm Calcium.

Approximated irrigation amount for 100 days is 3000 m3/ha.

What would be the amount of Calcium to apply with fertilizers?

Calcium contributed by water: 25X3000/1000 = 75 kg/ha

Amount to apply with fertilizers: 120-75 = 45 kg/ha.

Additional Options

Calculate the Estimated Irrigation Water EC - At this stage, the estimated irrigation water EC can be calculated by clicking the Calculate button (F). This option is valid when target values are in units of concentration in water (ppm, meq/l, mmol/l).

Calculate Water Quality - Click this button (G) to check your water quality. Smart! calculates salinity hazard, sodium hazard and emitter clogging potential. This will also be calculated automatically, without having to click this button, when you continue to Fertilizers.

Reports and Charts - Click this button (H) to generate a full report on your source water.

2. Continue to selecting Fertilizers

Click on the Fertilizers button to continue.
